washing for weigh and scale pans

Fast efficient washing for weigh and scale pans

Capable of washing up to 30 weigh pan/scale pan heads along with radials and other accessories, in just 10 to 30 minutes. Depending on the level of soiling and the wash cycle selected, the new PW28E weigh pan washer from Industrial Washing Machines Limited (IWM) combines speed and convenience with efficiency and economy.

Washing for weigh and scale pans

Designed for easy manual loading and unloading, the new machine offers a pre-programmed menu of up to seven different wash cycles that are readily selected by the operator using an intuitive touch-screen user interface. A pre-programmed self-cleaning cycle is also provided as part of the menu. The programmes can themselves be modified via the PLC control unit so that a menu of wash cycles can be tailored to suit each customer’s specific requirements.

IWM’s proven effective motorised TravelJet system

A typical wash cycle includes a hot pre-wash at between 50ºC and 55ºC followed by a recirculated detergent wash at the same temperature. To ensure efficient cleaning of the weigh pans and ancillaries, the washing chamber is equipped with IWM’s proven and effective motorised TravelJet system, which incorporates corrosion-proof plastic bayonet type water jets or, optionally, stainless steel jets.

Minimising running costs

The durations of both the pre-wash and the main wash can be set by the user to suit the type of weight pan and level of soiling. The washing operations are usually followed by a high-temperature hot rinse, using water that is retained in an internal tank between cycles and recirculated to minimise running costs and environmental impact. Alternatively, a recirculated chemical sanitiser rinse can be used.

Removes allergen contamination

The recirculation system can also be programmed to have a dump cycle between wash/rinse or at the end of both cycles. This removes any allergen contamination from the wash waters for customers to meet the needs of customers with particularly stringent requirements. IWM’s innovative design means that the dump cycles use just 100 litres of water.

The hot water rinse, where required, is usually sufficient to flash dry pans – especially stainless steel types – ready for re-use. A full hot air drying system can, however, be provided where the fastest possible turn around is necessary.

Long life and hygienic operations | Washing for weigh and scale pans

All major components of IWM’s new PW28E weigh pan washer are fabricated from stainless steel to ensure long life and hygienic operation, even in high duty cycle applications in hard water environments. In addition, like all IWM machines, the PW28E has been carefully designed to eliminate dirt traps and to allow easy access to key components, including pumps and filters, making it easy and inexpensive to clean and to maintain.

As standard, the PW28E comprises one manually actuated drawer unit with a cantilevered wheeled frame and an electrically interlocked front mounted door. It has a central product support frame, with 30 pan locators arranged as 15 per side in three tiers, together with a mesh basket at the base, which can accommodate radials. IWM can also offer alternative configurations and a range of add-on options, including dual-screen filters for high soil applications. Versions are available with steam and electric heating as standard.
